One clingy boy and his horse
There’s no other game that gets as straight to the point as shadow of the colossus.
There are no mini games, no side missions, no smaller enemies littered about the
map. There are just 16 Colosi littered around the map that you have to find and
defeat. so, get on your horse, ride through some pretty environments and get ready
to clamber and climb your way up giant furry beasts that have done absolutely no
wrong to you but you will kill anyway because a disembodied voice inside a cursed
temple told you to (and to bring your dead girlfriend back to life).
Throughout the journey you are accompanied by your horse, Agro who can be your
worst enemy at times as not only can a small rock have your horse come to a
sudden halt, but trying to ride next to a colossus that you have to climb can be an
absolute nightmare to coordinate as you will have to balance controlling the horse,
the camera and the direction of your character. Speaking of bad controls, the final
boss in the game gave me more trouble than it needed to as half the time my
character seemed to not follow the directional commands i was giving him, having
him jump to his death, or down hundreds of feet because he just wouldn’t jump
towards those damn hands. Insert angry face here.
Shadow of the Colossus released on the PS2 was an influential game and is
considered a classic by many, however i personally wouldn’t put it in my top 10
games. This doesn’t mean i hate the game, in fact i would recommend that everyone
should give the game a try, it might make your top ten as it has with hundreds of
gamers in the past making the game a certified classic.
I played the game on the Ps4 but you can also play earlier versions of the game on
the PS2 and PS3.
